This website, www.mehdisoodi.com.au (the Website), and the Persian to English translation services offered through it (the Services), are operated by Dr Mehdi Soodi (ABN 28 358 085 069), a NAATI-accredited Persian to English translator, as a sole trader trading as Mehdi Soodi (referred to as we, us or our). Our office is at Suite 5, 857 Doncaster Road, Doncaster VIC 3108, Australia. This document contains Part A – Legal Disclaimer, Part B – Privacy Policy, and Part C, a short privacy collection notice for use next to online forms and document-upload fields.
Part A — Legal Disclaimer
- General information only
The information on the Website is provided in good faith and for general information purposes only. It is not legal, migration, financial, medical or other professional advice, and must not be relied upon as a substitute for advice from a suitably qualified professional. You should obtain independent professional advice appropriate to your circumstances before acting on any information provided on the Website.
- Nature of translation services and third-party acceptance
We prepare translations with due care and skill. A translation we issue bears the translator’s NAATI stamp and credential details; it is not a certification or authentication of the source document. Whether a translation is accepted by any particular receiving organisation (for example a government department, court, educational institution or authority in Australia or overseas) is a matter for that organisation and is outside our control. Acceptance may depend on the organisation’s own requirements, including certification, notarisation, apostille or legalisation, the provision of originals or hard copies, and time limits. You are responsible for confirming the receiving organisation’s specific requirements before placing an order.
- Authenticity of source documents
We translate the content presented in the source document. Unless expressly agreed otherwise, we do not independently verify the authenticity, legal validity, completeness or issuing authority of a source document, or determine whether it has been altered or forged. A translation is not an authentication of the source document.
- Your responsibilities
To enable us to provide an accurate translation, you must provide complete, clear and legible copies of every relevant page; supply English spellings of names and places exactly as they appear in passports or official records; identify any handwritten, damaged or unclear content; tell us the intended receiving organisation and any deadline; confirm the receiving organisation’s certification or hard-copy requirements; and promptly review the completed translation and report any suspected error.
- Australian Consumer Law
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right, remedy or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, restricted or modified, including under the Australian Consumer Law. Where our liability may lawfully be limited, it is limited, at our option, to supplying the Services again or paying the cost of having them supplied again.
- Governing law
This document, the Website and the Services are governed by the laws of the State of Victoria and the Commonwealth of Australia. You submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Victoria.
Part B — Privacy Policy
- Our commitment
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, hold, use, disclose, secure and dispose of personal information, and how you may access or correct it or make a complaint. To the extent that the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles apply to us, we comply with those obligations, and we intend to handle personal information consistently with this Privacy Policy in any event.
- The information we collect
The personal information we collect depends on your dealings with us and may include identity and contact details; the contents of the documents you provide for translation and information about the receiving organisation and purpose; payment-related information (we accept payment by bank transfer/EFT and issue an invoice before commencing work); and website-usage information collected automatically. Because we translate personal and official documents, we frequently collect sensitive information, which may include health information and documents such as birth, marriage and death certificates, passports and identity documents, and medical and court documents. Where you provide personal information about another person, you should ensure that you are authorised or otherwise lawfully permitted to provide it, where required.
- Consent to sensitive information
Under the Australian Privacy Principles, we generally require your consent to collect sensitive information unless an exception applies. When you submit documents for translation, we ask you to consent to our collecting and handling the personal and sensitive information contained in them for the purpose of assessing, quoting and providing the requested translation. The consent wording used with our forms is set out in Part C.
- How we use and disclose personal information
We use personal information to respond to enquiries and provide quotations; to prepare and deliver translations; to review source documents for legibility and translation requirements; to process payments and maintain business records; and to comply with our legal obligations. We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose it to service providers who assist us (on the basis that they protect it); to a receiving organisation you nominate; to our professional advisers; and to government agencies or courts where required or authorised by law.
- Overseas disclosure
Some service providers we use (for example, website host, email, upload portal, cloud storage, accounting or messaging services) may store or process information outside Australia. Where practicable, the likely destination countries are identified in our collection notice (Part C). Where we disclose personal information to an overseas recipient, we take steps that are reasonable in the circumstances to require handling consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles.
- Security, retention and destruction
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access. We do not enter client documents into publicly available generative artificial-intelligence tools. Electronic source documents, working files and completed translation files are generally deleted within 14 days after delivery; we take reasonable steps to destroy or de-identify copies within our control, including archived and back-up copies, in accordance with our back-up cycle. This period may be extended where reasonably necessary (for example to address a correction, complaint or legal obligation). Business, taxation and accounting records may be retained for the applicable statutory period. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure.
- Access, correction and complaints
You may request access to, and correction of, the personal information we hold about you. Requests should be made using the contact details below. If the Privacy Act applies to the relevant handling and you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at www.oaic.gov.au, by telephone on 1300 363 992, or by writing to GPO Box 5218, Sydney NSW 2001.
- Direct marketing and the Spam Act
We will only use personal information for direct marketing where permitted under the Privacy Act and the Spam Act 2003 (Cth). Any commercial electronic message we send will identify us and include a functional unsubscribe facility, and you may opt out at any time; we will action your request within 5 working days.

Part C — Privacy Collection Notice (for use beside enquiry and document-upload forms)
We collect the personal information — and the sensitive information contained in the documents you provide — to quote for, prepare and deliver your Persian to English translation and to manage our services to you. If you do not provide it, we may be unable to provide a quotation or an accurate translation. We may disclose your information to a receiving organisation you nominate, to service providers who assist us (some of whom may store data overseas), and as required or authorised by law. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information and how you may access or correct it or make a complaint. By submitting your information and documents, you consent to our collecting and handling the personal and sensitive information they contain for these purposes.
